Decided to get out for a New Year's day paddle. Met up with Derek and launched at Cadboro Bay with a Northerly wind and headed out to Cattle Point to play in the rocks. Lots of nice surges and breakers coming in over the reefs off Cattle Point. I love playing in them, especially with my 'greenland' paddle. Farther out the water was more intense, wind against the swells coming in from the East. The residual swell from the big blows that came through yesterday... A trip out to Chatham would have been an interesting proposition today, and there were about a half dozen guys meeting OTW for a run out there.

...and now that the sun is going down I'm going to go back out and play in the lights of the Craigflower Hotel for a few hours.
